There are a number of ways you can take part in the activities of the Society if you do not wish to take acting parts, however we are always pleased to see new acting talent both male and female as there are many challenging parts coming up with our programmes extending currently to 2005 and with regular play readings we will be adding to this list of productions. Actors and Actresses: - We are interested to hear from experienced and new performers to join us and expand the openings for One and Three Act Plays to be performed locally and for entry of competitive plays, particularly in the annual All England Festival Plays come along to play readings and show us your talent. But do not be put off if you feel new to the game there are plenty of opportunities for starting with small parts and your talents can be developed by our directors. Directing: - if you have experience in this field and like the challenge of directing plays, pantomimes and musicals do come and join us. These assets when coupled with either teaching or qualified to work with young people in drama is a requirement for the teams with our youth groups. Here are some of the interesting Back Stage & Front of House activities: Stage Management Team: - designing and building stage sets and making properties. Once built, many parts of the sets need to be painted, to create the atmosphere, working on drapes and backcloths and finally dress the stage for each scene. Sound and Lighting Team: - new investment thanks to “Awards for All” towards the cost of new sound and lighting equipment, there are great opportunities if you are interested in this field working alongside our team. Publicity Team: - working with the publicity officer there are activities like programme and poster designs, media publicity and keeping the media informed of activities and events. Wardrobe Team: - Wardrobe Mistress has an important role and is responsible for ensuring the costumes reflect the period and style of the performance and there are many supporting roles ranging from costume making, helping performers with costume changes, sewing skills are always in demand. Make Up Team: - theatrical make-up is quite different from normal make-up you have to ensure the performers are reflecting the image of the character on stage. Front of House Team: - this is the face of the Society with the public, to ensure they are properly looked after starting with the door/box office, programme and raffle ticket selling, presenting a range of refreshments and then supporting activities at the intervals.
