Members visit to TR2 Centre Plymouth Theatre Royal
24 members were more than impressed by a unique tour of the TR2 centre.  The General Manager of Theatre Royal gave a guided tour, explaining the architectural design and function of the centre.  We were then taken into the various workshops which were indeed awe inspiring.  The wardrobe section, where we had a job to drag some members away, we saw costumes still in the making for the forthcoming Taming of the Shrew, notably TR 2 web2starring Ross Kemp, and Scrooge, starring Tommy Steele.  Some members were going to see these productions  so this was doubly interesting. Following on to the Props section there were exclamations such as “just look at that, and Wow!!”  Again properties connected to the two productions mentioned.  Altogether this was totally fascinating, especially for those involved in wardrobe and props.  We then visited the rehearsal rooms.  One was the total size of the stage area at Theatre Royal, this being bigger than the total area of our Town Hall!!!  Our last visit was to the design and planning offices with drawing boards showing future concepts, and models of set designs for new productions.

This visit was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and sent us away with ambitious ideas for our future productions.  We finished off with a visit to the Warner Centre for refreshments before returning home.
